Dr. Andrew Blumenfeld
-
Dr. Blumenfeld grew up in South
Africa, and graduated from St. Andrews College, South
Africa, with a first class pass and distinction in
Mathematics. He attended the University of the Witwatersrand,
Johannesburg, South Africa Medical School.

In 1986 he came to the United States, and
completed a Neurology Residency at the University of
Massachusetts Medical School. Following this,
he completed an EEG and EMG fellowship, also at University
of Massachusetts Medical School. He was a Staff
Neurologist at Kaiser Permanente, San Diego from
1990, and was Chief of Neurology Service at Kaiser
from 1999-2004. In 2004, he joined The Neurology
Center as a partner. He is currently Director of The Headache Center of Southern California.
- Dr. Blumenfeld is a member of the American Academy
of Neurology and the American Headache Society. He
has published widely in areas of headache and has been
an active researcher in headache and botulinum toxin therapy.
He has vast experience in botulinum toxin therapy (Botox®) for headache disorders.

Dr. Thomas Chippendale
-
Dr. Chippendale graduated with his B.S. in Biology with research Honors in Psychobiology and an M.S. in Pharmacology from UC Irvine. He earned an M.A. in Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Behavior, from Princeton University, where he was a Spencer Fellow.

He graduated from UC Irvine Medical
School in 1980. He completed a medical internship
and neurology residency at UC San Diego, with special
emphasis on EEG and evoked potentials.
Dr. Chippendale is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Neurology at UCSD, and has received the Clinical Teaching Award.

Dr Chippendale is has been Chief of Staff of Tri-City Medical Center and belongs to the San Diego Neurologic Society and the American Academy of Neurology. He is Board Certified in Neurology and has been in practice in North County since 1984. Dr.Chippendale has a special interest in stress management.

Dr. Benjamin Frishberg

Dr. Frishberg graduated Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Minnesota.

He attended the University of Minnesota Medical School, graduating with honors.

In 1979, Dr. Frishberg came to the University of California at San Diego where he completed two years of residency in Internal Medicine, and completed his training in Neurology.

In 1984, Dr. Frishberg finished a Fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology at Emory University in Atlanta.

From 1985 until 1997, Dr. Frishberg resided in the Washington DC area where he practiced Neuro-Ophthalmology and Neurology. In addition, he taught at Georgetown University, George Washington University Medical School, and was Director of Neuro-Ophthalmology at Howard University School of Medicine.

Dr. Frishberg returned to San Diego in 1997 to practice Neuro-Ophthalmology, Neurology, and do Clinical Research.

Dr. Frishberg has special interest in Neurologic Diseases affecting the eye and vision, including migraine. He lectures nationally on practice management.
He is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Neurology and the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, as well as a member of The American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Jack Schim

Dr. Schim graduated cum laude from the
University of Miami, with a B.A. in Psychology, and an
M.F.A. in Studio Art.

He earned his M.D. at U.C. San Diego Medical School, and served as a medical intern at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles.

In 1985, he completed his neurology residency at UCSD, with special emphasis on EMG and neuromuscular disease.
-
He is President of the San Diego Stroke Council, Secretary/Treasurer of the Association of California Neurologists, and is a member of the Medicare Carrier Advisory Board for California. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and of the American Society of Neuroimaging. He has been Chair of the Division of Neuroscience at Scripps Hospital, La Jolla, and is former President of the San Diego Neurologic Society. Dr. Schim is Board certified in Neurology and holds an appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Neurology at UCSD.

Dr. Schim has been in practice in North
County since 1985. He has special interests in stroke
prevention, acute stroke intervention, and headache management,
and expertise in EMG, Botox, and Neurologic Rehabilitation.

Dr. Jay Rosenberg

Dr. Rosenberg obtained his M.D. from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, D.C., and completed his residency at LAC-USC Medical Center.

He was Staff Neurologist at Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG) from 1972 to 2001, serving as Chief of the Neurology Department at SCPMG from 1973 to 1990.

In 1993, Dr. Rosenberg received the Outstanding Service Award from the San Diego Chapter of the American Epilepsy Society.

He has served as visiting professor and locum tenens neurologist at the University of Otago School of Medicine and Dunedin Public Hospital in New Zealand.

Dr. Rosenberg joined The Neurology Center in November 2002 and focuses on the area of brain tumors
and head injury patients.

Dr. James Boyd
-
Dr. Boyd graduated from the
University of Southern California School of Dentistry in
1985, receiving the Dean's Special Award for Outstanding
Achievement.

Having suffered from frequent migraines and a chronic TMJ
condition beginning in 1977, Dr. Boyd set out to identify
the disease process which might "overlap" between the two conditions.
-
In 2001, Dr. Boyd received an
FDA approval for the Nociceptive Trigeminal Inhibition
Tension Suppress System (NTI-tss), for the prevention of
medically diagnosed migraine pain and temporomandibular
disorders.
-
Dr. Boyd is the past Director
of Research and Senior Clinical Instructor at the White
Memorial Medical Center Craniofacial/TMD clinic in Los
Angeles.

He joined The Headache Center
in 2005 as a practicing clinical consultant and works with Dr. Blumenfeld in the research of trigeminally
mediated disorders.
